Quality digital locks are very secure. We use commercial-grade brands that have strong encryption and anti-tamper features. While no system is 100% hack-proof, it’s extremely rare for a criminal to target the electronics; it’s far easier for them to attempt physical break-ins. Digital locks we install often have backup measures (like a physical key override or battery backup) to ensure you’re not locked out. In many ways, a digital lock enhances security – you can change codes frequently and there are no keys to lose or copy.

Most access control systems and digital locks are prepared for power issues. Battery-operated digital locks continue working on their batteries, and you just replace the batteries every 6-12 months. For wired systems (common in larger commercial setups), they usually have a backup battery or UPS so they function during outages. In the worst case, locks with fail-safe settings will unlock if power is out (to comply with fire safety on exit doors), or fail-secure ones will stay locked, we configure this based on your needs. We also ensure there’s always a manual way in, like a physical key or override for emergencies.

Yes, many access control systems can integrate with alarm systems and CCTV. For example, when a door is unlocked with a card, it can disable the alarm for that area, or if someone attempts an unauthorized entry, the alarm can trigger. We can work with your security provider or recommend solutions that tie everything together. Integration can give you one unified platform to manage access, cameras, and alarms, often from the same app or interface.

It might be more affordable than you think. For a small office or storefront, a basic system could be as simple as a couple of digital locks or a single card reader at the front door. There are standalone smart locks that cost only a few hundred dollars, which we can install quickly. Larger systems with many doors and user management software do cost more. We’re happy to discuss options that fit your budget, from a single smart lock to a multi-door system. In any case, consider the savings of not rekeying locks whenever keys are lost or staff change; an access control system can pay for itself over time.
